Valdelavilla is a small town in the highlands of Soria that dates back to the 18th century. It was reconstructed as a rural tourist complex after it was abandoned in the 1960's for demographic reasons. It is considered as one of the best-preserved natural sites in Spain with unique architectural and landscaping characteristics, a special climate, and a rich abundance of flora and fauna.

The village is nestled in a valley and even in its heyday, its population probably never surpassed 30 families. It has rustic feel to it with twelve traditional stone-walled houses, cobblestone streets and plenty of exposed brick and timber. Open countryside and beautiful panoramic views complete the quaint atmosphere and make this venue a favourite for volunteers who want that "authentic Spanish experience". Valdelavilla arguably represents Pueblo Ingles in its rawest form.

THE ACCOMMODATION

The village has a bar/café, dining hall, meeting room and a small laundry room all connected by cobbled stoned streets. In the main building there is a sitting area with a television/DVD and one computer with internet access. Each house has a common sitting area with a television. The rooms are rustic but comfortable and pleasant. They each have a telephone and two twin beds or a double a bed. Some have their own bathroom, others have a shared bathroom down the hall. There is a high possibility that you will have to share a bedroom with a fellow Anglo of a similar age and gender.

Recommended for Weather Facilities

People looking for the rustic Spanish experience and to get away from it all. This charming venue is remote and since there is no mobile phone signal there will be no usual daily interruptions to spoil the panoramas. The terrain is uneven so this venue will not suit people with walking disabilities.
