Volunteer - Teach English - in Spain

TheLa Alberca and Doña Teresa are situated in the south-west corner of the Castile and Leon region. La Alberca is the name of one of the most important villages in the area - well known for its traditions and customs that date back to the 15th Century. It was also the first village in Spain to be declared a National Heritage Site in 1940. It is located only 70 km from Salamanca with a population of a little less than 1,200 and attracts tourists from all over.

Surrounded by four mountain ranges; the Sierra de Bejar from the east, La Peña de Francia from the west, and both the Sierra de Francia and the Sierra de Kilama to the north; La Alberca's landscape is quite a spectacle. The medieval village still preserves its architecture, especially in its town centre where to this day expert blacksmiths and other traditional artisan - crafts people can be found.

THE HOTELS

In the town of La Alberca, in the province of Salamanca, there are 2 hotels where Pueblo Inglés takes place:
The venue we commonly refer to as “La Alberca” takes place in the Hotel Abadia de los Templarios, which is a four-star modern rural complex.
Participants at La Alberca can enjoy the convenience of two-bedroom chalets, circled around the main dining and meeting room. Check out the VILLAS section the Hotel Abadia de los Templarios website.

The venue we refer to as “Doña Teresa” is the Doña Teresa Hotel. Here participants a can enjoy the plentiful flowers and rustic nature of the hotel's architecture, as well as some nearby paths that head out from the edge of town into the rolling hills. While this location is located on the edge of town and creates a challenge of limiting the “Spanish” atmosphere that can interfere with the Spaniard's heads, the hotel is more than charming and the location very convenient for sneaking in an extra glimpse of a lovely medieval village.
Check out Doña Teresa hotel website.

Recommended for Weather Facilities

This venue offers the chance to enjoy the nearby village during the week.
Be aware that this site is quite hilly as the hotel is situated in the mountains. You'll be exercising more than just your vocal chords!

Travel time from Madrid is 4 hours.
